With PYI’s support, the Ground-Up Innovation Labs for Development (GUILD) has transformed from an invention studio to a learning consultancy. Notable projects include the award-winning Floating Chinampa farming invention with L’Oreal, TECH TARIK scientific research seminars, the Youth Sustainability Champions Programme, the Remaking Paths career discovery programme for youth ex-offenders, and My Digital Bootcamp in partnership with UOB. GUILD recently concluded a Sustainability Summer Programme with Japan and aims for global growth.

An award-winning health-education company, Joytingle’s products are used by leading hospitals across 25 countries.
In April 2016, Joytingle and Esther’s invention (Rabbit Ray) was highlighted in Singapore’s Parliament as an example of “innovation by design” by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister Heng Swee Keat. Esther was awarded Forbes 30 under 30 in the category of “Healthcare and Technology’ and appeared on the cover (Forbes Asia, April 2018) as one of five featured honorees.

ISS International Academy
Wang Junyong joined PYI with the goal of creating a positive impact through drumming. He eventually found his way to Cambodia, where he now manages ISS International Academy to provide quality education to middle-income children in the country.

UnaBiz
Chua Rui De developed a portable motorised add-on for wheelchairs. During the early stages of product and business development, his PYI mentor facilitated key connections to kick-start the project and to refine it to achieve product-market fit. Since then, he has continued to use the technology to improve the daily lives of people through his work in UnaBiz, a global massive IoT service provider and integrator.

Schools for The Future
Philip Yeo Initiative co-funded Kuik Shiao-Yin’s first systems-level intervention, bringing together key stakeholders from three different schools. Over six months, school leaders, youths and parents were trained in change leadership, a skill that helped them introduce grounded changes in their respective schools.

In collaboration with local hospitals, Ritchie Ng started off with a project that utilised AI in detecting lung nodules in X-ray scans and cancer in mammograms. An unrelated nationwide data leak affected this project, which was subsequently terminated. Since then, Ritchie has pivoted to harnessing AI in the financial sector, assisting individuals in their financial well-being.

BagoSphere
BagoSphere is a community to develop frontliners through its pre-employment, employee onboarding and leadership programmes that empower talents to secure frontline entry-level jobs to managers by building up their mindsets, confidence and skills. Since 2013, it has trained over 7,000 individuals, of which more than 80% became successfully employed, and expanded its reach from the call centre industry to the microfinance sector.

Artably
Artably’s Pledge-A-Badge project aims to use collectible badges featuring illustrations and characters to raise awareness of important social issues. It has two main goals: creating visuals that highlight important causes and collaborating with local businesses to promote these badges. As part of Artably’s pilot project scheduled for a late 2023 launch, it will co-create a wall mural at Common Ground, where it is based, to commemorate its community-focused work.

Learning Vessels
Learning Vessels (LV) is a social enterprise that offers the Early Learning Programme (ELP), an intervention-based foundational literacy and numeracy programme developed by LV’s co-founders in 2014, to address educational challenges faced by disadvantaged children. LV works with charities to train volunteers to provide the ELP’s personalised 1:1 teaching using methods from educational, speech and language, and occupational therapy. LV also offers learning materials to parents and educators at market rates, and provides workshops for children, volunteers and parents.

Jaga-Me Home Care, co-founded by Julian is an award-winning digital healthcare platform that bridges a patient’s transition from hospital to home. Its mission is to enable access to quality healthcare at home, through a global community care network. Jaga-Me’s digital platform matches people who need care with clinical care resources in the community. Through its web and mobile app, home visits, personalized care information, and medical goods, can be facilitated in order to enable a safe and seamless transition home.

Acceset
Acceset is an online mental wellness platform that features text-based journaling, enabling users to share problems online and receive emotional support from others. Oon Tian Sern is now transitioning into a management role to address community mental health issues in an institutional setting, while also working on a side project that brings communities and stakeholders online to leverage the advantages of a large network to enhance lives.

Tri-Sector Associates
Tri-Sector Associates, founded by Kevin in collaboration with Third Sector Capital Partners, is a non-profit advisory firm whose mission is to maximise the effectiveness of social spending by deploying a model called Pay for Success. They bring together governments, philanthropies and private funders across the Asia Pacific to invest in social causes.

Green Nudge
Green Nudge began as Heng Li Seng’s project idea to make large-scale events more sustainable. He later pivoted the company’s focus to tailor sustainability initiatives to meet the specific needs of companies and communities, guiding them in adopting more environmentally responsible practices when planning and hosting employee engagements.

Yonah
Yonah was a project that focused on implementing drone robotics in Southeast Asia. Through PYI, Sim Zhi Min has successfully deployed his systems in Malaysia and the Philippines. While the project has ended following Zhi Min’s departure, its contributions to robotics literature and open-source knowledge remained impactful in the rapidly expanding area of using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for payload delivery.

Inclus
Inclus is a social enterprise that helps persons with disabilities (PWDs) achieve gainful employment and independent living. It works closely with tertiary institutions and non-profit organisations to support PWDs as young as 16 years old in society. It aims to expand its life-journey approach by helping both PWDs and their families from cradle to grave.

I Am Talented
“I Am Talented” is a social empowerment programme that offers non-academic experiences to secondary school students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Its diverse courses like songwriting and robotics allow students to nurture their passions. With PYI funding, the programme has introduced robotics to Primary 6 students in Jalan Kukoh. Those displaying interest in robotics were guided towards selecting secondary schools with robotics as an Applied Learning Programme. This initiative has led to an ongoing partnership with Catch+ and expanded to include students in Kampong Glam.

Claire Teo, the first visually impaired LASALLE’s Diploma in Performance graduate, achieved a significant milestone as a protagonist and playwright in Singapore’s first inclusive musical, “ART:DIS Singapore’s Welcome to My World 2023: Cha Cham Bo! Taking Flight”. Honoured with the 2022 Goh Chok Tong Enable Awards (UBS Promise), she passionately serves marginalised communities. She teaches drama at special needs and mainstream schools, including LASALLE, MINDS, Lighthouse School, and works as a programmes’ executive at Methodist Welfare Services.

Seastainable is a social business focused on marine conservation in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, and Malaysia. It promotes sustainable living and environmental awareness among individuals. Seastainable directs its profits to support environmental organizations and collaborates with Indonesian communities to pay fair wages for collecting plastic waste and advancing environmental education.

Invigilo Technologies
Invigilo Technologies is an AI safety intelligence platform, delivering prescriptive, preventive, and predictive safety solutions in the workplace, particularly for high-risk worksites. It uses historical data and on-site IP cameras, employing advanced computer vision to provide real-time safety breach alerts for swift action. It also offers a comprehensive dashboard with vital site safety statistics.

Exabloom
Exabloom is a conversational commerce platform for businesses, with the aim to digitise and enhance the entire customer journey through chat. Since its launch in January 2023, it has processed more than 2,000,000 conversations globally. It is fully customer funded and has achieved profitability. Currently, it serves customers from Singapore, Malaysia and the United States.

Stick’Em
Stick ‘Em uses chopsticks, 3D-printed geometric connectors, and a user-friendly plug-and-play electronics kit to construct robots, bridges, and other creative projects. Its self-guided curriculum provides access to STEAM programmes for schools, eliminating the need for costly trainers. It has already benefited over 2,000 makers across seven countries. Its vision is to extend this impact to schools in remote areas, empowering all children to develop problem-solving skills and harness technology’s full potential via Stick’Em’s products.

Autonomous Cysec Platform
Kazel Koh’s project involves automating offensive cybersecurity testing using chess AI techniques, with the goal of making high-quality and affordable cybersecurity accessible to all organisations. After two years of development and patent applications, the project has received a Notice of Eligibility for Grant for the patent. Kazel’s focus is now on commercialising the invention and piloting it in organisations.

Tictag.io
Tictag.io is a startup that aims to reduce data annotation complexity with an AI-based solution. With its pre-series A funding, it has brought on 141 beneficiaries from various backgrounds. It is working towards onboarding low-income seniors, persons with disabilities, and persons with autism onto the Tictag app, making a positive impact in the community.

The Young SEAkers
The Young SEAkers (TYS) is the first and only Southeast Asia-based non-profit organisation with a China and ASEAN angle. TYS nurtures ASEAN-China Savvy Youth Leaders equipped with cross-border skills for the ASEAN-China region. Headquartered in Singapore, it has regional chapters in all 10 ASEAN countries and China. Since its launch, it has piloted three key programmes: SEAkers Mentoring, SEAkers Career, and a school curriculum.

ConcreteAI aims to develop technology that replaces the conventional cube test for on-site concrete strength determination. Its solution is in the proof of value phase with government agencies and has been adopted by private builders in Singapore and Malaysia.

Ferticlay
Ferticlay is an innovative startup that blends food waste, including eggshells, coffee grounds, and nut husks, with clay to produce alternative clay materials for agriculture and construction. It has begun R&D trials to develop slow-release fertilising clay that can also be used as a filament for 3D printing.

Project Enigma is an edutainment company promoting hands-on puzzles and toys. Puzzletopia is the company’s edutainment space in Singapore offering hundreds of puzzles to visitors, who can book a session to play with the puzzles or borrow them to play at home. Feeveo
With PYI’s support, Feeveo has developed and manufactured a bean sprout processing machine to increase the production of Silver Sprouts, a bean sprout variety that has been in short supply for 20 years. The machine is set to produce Silver Sprout from September 2023. This achievement in automation serves as a stepping stone for improving processing efficiency in other food types. With automation, Feeveo will positively impact the agricultural and consumers’ food options.
